2nd Mar 2006 On 1 and 2 March 2006 in Tokyo, the Accounting Standards Board of Japan (ASBJ) and the International Accounting Standards Board (IASB) held the third joint meeting towards the final goal of achieving convergence between Japanese GAAP and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRSs). Four board members including Professor Shizuki Saito, Chairman, and staff on behalf of the ASBJ and four board members including Sir David Tweedie, Chairman, and staff on behalf of the IASB attended the meeting. more..
Release Ceremony for Chinese Accounting Standards

On the afternoon of February 15, the Ministry of Finance (MOF) held a ceremony to release 39 Chinese Accounting Standards for Business Enterprises and 48 Auditing Standards for Certified Public Accountants, marking the establishment of an accounting standards system for business enterprises and an auditing standards system for certified public accountants that suit the development of the market economy and convergence with the international practices.
