New Trustee appointed

Tommaso Padoa-Schioppa, Chairman of the International Accounting Standards Committee (IASC) Foundation, announced today the appointment of Alicja Kornasiewicz as a Trustee of the IASC Foundation.

Tommaso Padoa-Schioppa, Chairman of the International Accounting Standards Committee (IASC) Foundation, announced today the appointment of Alicja Kornasiewicz as a Trustee of the IASC Foundation.  Mrs Kornasiewicz will complete the term of Jens Røder, who retired following the Trustees’ meeting in March 2006 and will continue to serve as an adviser to the Trustees.  Mrs Kornasiewicz’s term will expire on 31 December 2007. 

Based in her native Poland, Mrs Kornasiewicz is a member of the Board of CA IB Corporate Finance Gmbh , Vienna, and serves as CEO and Chairman of CA IB Group in Poland .  At CA IB Group, she is responsible for all investment banking activities and mergers and acquisitions for CA IB in Eastern European countries.  She is also Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Bank BPH S.A., the third largest bank in Poland .  Previously, until October 2000, Mrs Kornasiewicz was Secretary of State – First Deputy Minister of the Ministry of the State Treasury of Poland. 

Commenting on the appointment, Mr Padoa-Schioppa said, ‘I am delighted to welcome Alicja Kornasiewicz to the IASC Foundation Trustees.  Mrs Kornasiewicz has a strong grasp of financial markets from her experience in both the public and private sectors.  At the same time, she will bring an important new perspective to the Trustees’ discussion as our first Trustee from one of the new EU Member States.  I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Jens Røder for his work on behalf of the Foundation.’
